Are you bored with your same breakfast day in and day out? Here are a few quick healthy and protein packed breakfasts for you all to make. I am a creature of habit, always having my egg whites and oatmeal....seriously...for 4 years every morning.
I have started to step out of my Quaker oats box and thought I would share with you what I am experimenting with these days.
Spicy Egg White Scramble
6 egg whites
1 cup of spinach
1 tbsp of diced onion
1 tbsp of diced bell pepper
Warm all ingredients on stove in a large pan until thoroughly cooked.
When done splash with some hot sauce. Add a slice of Ezekiel bread for some healthy carbs and energy. Or wrap it up in a low carb tortilla. YUM!
Delicious Over Night Oats
warning- you will need an airtight canister for this.
1.5 cups Rolled Oats
2/3 cup Almond Milk
1/2 cup Nonfat vanilla or regular greek yogurt
1 tbsp chia seeds
Pinch of Cinnamon
The Night Before (hence overnight oats) add all the ingredents listed above together in your airtight canister. Mix and seal. Place in your refrigerator and it will be ready for you to devour in the morning.
If you want some extra flavor, mix in your favorite fruits.
My favorites are blueberries and bananas. Some other ideas: Honey, Maple Syrup (don't go too crazy with this), Peanut Butter, All Natural Strawberry Jam, and Pumpkin Puree.
Waffle WHAT! Breakfast Treat
Check out Van's Power Grains Waffles. Gluten Free, 5 grams of Fat for 2!, 26 carbs and 10 grams of protein.
1-2 Van's Waffles
1 tbsp All Natural Peanut Butter
1/4 cup mixed berries
2 scrambled egg whites
Easy and quick prep. Toast the waffle, slap the PB on it and top with berries. Scramble up a few egg whites and breakfast is ready!
I will do these one in a while when I am needing a carb influx or I am gearing up for a long run or bike.
I hope you find these recipes fun, different and delicious. Let me know if you try them and what you think. I am always looking for new ways get my friends and myself eating healthy without eating boring foods!
Live, Laugh and Rock it,
Missy
